ORbit

WHAT IS ORbit?

ORbit is the official magazine of the Danish and Swedish OR societies, which features both theoretical and practical articles about the application of operations research and analytics. ORbit is not only limited to scientific publications,  and welcome articles related to Operations Research, Operations Management, Data Science, Machine Learning and related topics. This includes opinion articles, implementation articles, and others.

The latest magazine is sent in electronic and paper version to all our members (it is possible to opt out of the paper version), while earlier issues can be found on this page.

Publication Format

  • ORbit is published periodically throughout the year.  A new issue is published whenever the minimum of 5–6 articles has been reached.

  • Submission is open throughout the year. While there are no fixed submission deadlines, contributors will receive periodic reminders.

Submission Guidelines

  • Articles should be submitted using the latex template provided by ORbit upon request.  This facilitates the editing process of the magazine.

  • Submissions should be sent to the editorial team at orbit@dorsnet.dk.

 

Article Visibility

  • Once an article has been accepted, it is distributed via email to all DORS members.

  • ORbit issues are made publicly available on the DORS website once a new issue is finalized.
     

Compensation

  • Articles up to 2 pages: 500 DKK

  • Articles longer than 2 pages: 2000 DKK

Orbit Editor - João Fonseca

Dr. João Fonseca is a Senior Optimization Specialist at Portchain, where he uses Operations Research and Data Analytics to improve planning of container terminals quayside operations. Originally from Portugal, he lives in Odense, Denmark since 2012 and studied at DTU. He holds a PhD in Operations Research, in the topic of Optimization of timetables in integrated public transport planning, and also holds a MSc in Transport and Logistics, on the Transport and Business Logistics study line. He has participated and presented in several scientific conferences, and did an external research stay at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2017/2018. He is interested in both exact methods and heuristic algorithms, with special application in the transport and logistics sector.
